Watermark Magazine

Got a copy through of The Princess Yachts magazine Watermark today, featuring 3 pics I shot for their story about the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix back in November. Bagged the story opener DPS which is a nice shot of a Princess V65 with the Atlantis Hotel in the background.

Two shots on the following spread too. The quality of the magazine is really good, nice weighty satin stock used which really pops the images off the page. First publish of the new year.

Still on a nautical note, I've just finished two shoots for Yachts Emirates magazine here in Dubai so should have some more images to post of those soon.

Jellies

Happy New Year!

Last year was a good one so this year has a lot to live up to. Got lots of plans on what to do creatively this year but am going to take it slow. Nothing worse than starting of all guns blazing only to falter after a few weeks.

Took this pic of Jellyfish yesterday, my second pic of the year. First one was of my fridge! Random, but I'll explain that later. Truth be told this is actually three shots merged together so really it's my second, third and fourth pics of the year. Going to get it printed real big. The colours are just amazing, so warm.

Don't tell the missus

I shot the models for thisFoster's site about a month ago in Dubai. It was a really fun shoot. Over the day way had 7 models come and basically have a laugh in front of the camera. The client wanted images for the initial launch of the site as well as for future updates so we worked hard and screamed through gigs and gigs of frames. The site has just gone live and is a bit cheeky but a good laugh, just what you'd expect from an Aussie beer brand.

I'll post some of the images on their own later as they're a bit small here.

You can check the site at www.donttellthemissus.com they've also got a twitter feed, follow @fosters_dttm

I've done a few shoots this week of yachts so I'll post some images when I can.

Princess Yachts

I was out shooting another turtle release yesterday afternoon. I'll post pics from that later. Here though, are a few shots that I grabbed of the Princess V58 that was used as a support vessel to carry film crew and photographers out to document the release. It's rare in Dubai to get clouds in the sky along with such a clear haze free day so I thought I'd take full advantage and take these pics on our way back to the marina.

I'm sorting through the actual release shots and will post some later on today.

Laptop Shoot

I've just finished a shoot of a new laptop that's launching over here. The pics are going into a book and also appearing as large format prints at the launch. The brief was to shoot it fairly abstractly in the style of a car brochure. They worked out well and I have around 20 distinct images of which these are a few.

I hired a Nikon D3x to shoot this and was blown away by the quality of the images out of it. Some of the details it picked up were amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing the big prints which will really show them off.

Portraits

I shot these portraits for a singer friend of mine to use as PR images. We went for a simple 2 light set up, beauty dish infront and gridded head from behind. The last pic was with one light in a 3x4 profoto softbox.

I'm really pleased with them. The only downside for me was realising that my studio really isn't big enough, just another thing to add to the list.

I'm off out to sea again today to shoot some luxury yachts for Princess, looking forward to it. I'll post pics when I can, hope the weather cooperates.

Clothing test

I've got a clothing shoot coming up shortly so I decided to experiment with some lighting techniques. It's not for The North Face unfortunately but this jacket served as a great stand-in. The lighting style will work great for the actual shoot, I just wanted to make sure I had it nailed before the shoot itself. I used a couple of Profoto heads with grids on each. These grids are great and really are becoming my 'go to' light modifier, love em. I used a 10º and a 20º on this shot.
